Harold Hill, 31st May 2017 Louca Kousoulou independent candidate for Brentwood and Ongar (and Father of TOWIE star Georgia Kouslulou) held a campaign meeting in Harold Hill on the subject of Youth knife crime and invited over one hundred and fifty people; however, only two people turned up at the meeting venue. Mr Kousoulou said “I am very disappointed – I was expecting more interest in the increasing problem of youth knife crime” He is planning to hold another meeting on the subject on the eve of the General Election.

The Independent candidate. No idea if they're even worse than the Tories but their sign is good.

Managed to brave the wet weather to vote this morning, and got a photo of the queue, then in the evening went to Horsham Library for a session celebrating the end of the Horsham District Monthly Reading Challenge.

There were two authors present, William Shaw here is reading from the first book in a new crime series called Salt Lane.

The other author was Juliet West. I read her first book, Before the Fall, as my January challenge (read a book based on a real person or event).

Both were very happy to chat, and it was an enjoyable evening.

The challenge is moving to Mid Sussex next year, as it was so popular, with some changes of topic. I can strongly recommend it if you like reading, and need to get out of your comfort zone!

I have become a library user again thanks to this, which I spotted on Facebook in February. Libraries need all the support we can offer them.

Mr Yee Jenn Yong, WP's candidate for Joo Chiat SMC speaks about entrepreneurship and his desire for a more level playing field for small-and-medium businesses.

Apparently Alex Salmond will call the shots if the SNP get in with Labour. This may be news to them and to Nicola Sturgeon #everydaysexism

New Jersey National Guard (NJNG) Soldiers and Airmen will accompany the ballots to ensure the chain of custody is maintained when they deliver them to the Board of Elections. More than 370 NJNG Soldiers and Airmen are assisting election officials in 19 New Jersey counties, 31 at Atlantic County, by performing duties in support of the General Election. This is the first time the NJNG has supported a general election. Call to Action: We are asking our supporters to speak up for wildlife by asking Prospective Parliamentary Candidates these questions. Visit Sussex Wildlife Trust website for more information.

Despite huge conservation effort and great successes like the designation of the South Downs National Park, our wildlife is still under threat and in decline. The next Government faces real challenges to reverse this trend as the effects of climate change become a reality.

We have contacted all the Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) standing for election in Sussex to ask how they and their parties intend to tackle these threats and protect and enhance the wildlife and landscapes of Sussex. Their responses will be on www.sussexwt.org.uk from 19 April 2010.

6 May 2010. U.K Parliamentary and (in many areas) local council elections.

In Green Lanes, the bookies William Hill joined enthusiastically in the campaign.

In our society the Devil doesn't have the best tunes. But can certainly hire expensive graphic artists. I especially like the gold copperplate Will.

Not sure though of the significance of the dripping yellow above David Cameron's head (or is it Nick Clegg's?). Wealth trickle-down theory, perhaps?

How your vote affects the folks back home.

Nick Clegg visited Eastbourne on May 5th, 2010, to drum up support for the local candidate, Stephen Lloyd (who was duly elected as the local MP). Of course, I voted tactically to get the Tories out, only for the Lib Dems to stab every one of their supporters in the back by going into coalition with them.

Recent work from HP Labs at Palo Alto in California demonstrated that crowd-sourced data taken from Twitter has an uncanny ability to predict movie box office success.

Dollywagon thought this was interesting and has been monitoring Twitter to see what it could tell us about the future outcome of the UK's finely-balanced General Election campaign.

We've been monitoring political hash tag use on Twitter and have been analysing the networked data to understand how campaign themes and stories are related to each other. We've also been looking out for what issues and parties have been capturing real momentum in the Twitter network.

Here is an image of our latest network analysis. What's apparent is how much Liberal Democrat activity there is on Twitter - this volume or share of political Twitter activity has been maintained since the first televised leadership debate.

What is also interesting is the sudden appearance over the weekend of hash tag threads related to the Philippa Stroud story that ran in the last edition of The Observer.

We'll be watching to see how this one grows - at present most of the tweets are campaigning for the mainstream media to run with this story. Many tweets are also contrasting its 'bigot' themes with Gordon Brown's disaster in Rochdale the previous week - '#bigotgate' hash tag use has receded a lot since last week.
